Future Of China Clay In Industrial Sphere

China clay is present in immense quantity in nature. The rocks are produced naturally by kaolinisation process and are rich in kaolinite. As the mineral, like feldspar undergo chemical weathering, this mineral is produced that appears to be white, earthy and soft. The origin of this mineral is China, which is why it is known as China clay. It was first obtained from the hill situated in Jiangxi Province, South-Eastern China. Chinese found techniques to make porcelain using kaolin.

In comparison to ball clay, this primary clay has larger particles, lower modulus of rupture, lower plasticity and higher casting rate in slip casting. It is because of the whiteness of the China clay, industry started using it in bone China. When it is fired, it doesn't lose its whiteness. Today, many industrial sectors use China clay in both, lumps and powdered forms. The demand of this product is rising and it is expected to continue to rise.

The current applications of china clay powder and china clay lump are many for their properties. The industries that use this products are as follows:

1) Dinnerware production
2) Refractory production
3) Pottery
4) Sanitary ware
5) Production
6) Paper
7) Rubber
8) Textiles
9) Cosmetics
10) Paint
11) Toothpaste
12) Water treatment
13) Plastic

It was all about the industries, but the reasons this material is used, these are as follows:

1) Main component of porcelain in ceramics.
2) Modify the gloss levels and extend white pigment in paint.
3) Modify rubber properties upon vulcanization.
4) Modify rheology in adhesives.
5) As adsorbents in the treatment of water.
6) Improve the paper surface.
7) As an ingredient in soap and facial masks.
8) Anti-block PET films.

The waste of China clay can be used in building industry.

The processing of China clay extracted from the deposits is convenient with some of the common production steps, such as:

1) Excavation: China clay is mixed with water to form slurry with less than 10% of the clay content.

2) Sieving: The slurry is passed through a number of sieves for the removal of all sand and stones present in it. The filtered slurry is ready for the next process.

3) Settling: The sieved slurry is then added into settling tank of zig zag pattern, where the clay particles settle. The settling process increases the percentage of slurry to up to 50-60%.

4) Filter Press: The pump is used for sending the clay slurry to the filter press. This press reduces the moisture content of the clay slurry to 15-20%. The clay that comes out of this press is in cake form.

5) Drying: The cake is dried to further reduce the moisture content to around 5%.

The China clay is being used for 150 million years. It is because of the ability to modify the properties of other products, China clay is widely in use.

Srinath Enterprises processes china clay powder and china clay lump to address this precise demand for China clay for several applications. These powdered clay appears white, while the lumps appears creamy white. Our 1999 established company located in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, India, is capable of catering to growing demand by producing in large scale, while optimally use natural resources with high level of automation.
