Process of making Diamond Earrings

Diamond Earrings are pieces of jewelry that are bought and used by women all over the world and in a majority of countries. An earring is worn after piercing the earlobe or any other external part of the ear. Normal earrings are worn by both men and women but earrings made of diamond are mainly worn by women.

Diamonds and similar gemstones have been used as objects of adornment in many ancient civilizations and especially in India where diamond was first mined. Diamond Earrings is so valued because the light disperses into the various colors of the spectrum inside the diamond and can be seen clearly, giving a celestial look to the piece. That is the reason behind the shining of the diamond. Four features of a diamond are clarity, cut, carat and color.

Clarity is the term that is used in the diamond and jewelry industry to denote the presence of impurities or inclusions in the diamond. These inclusions may be particles of crystals or any other of materials like the inclusion of a second diamond crystal or imperfections in the structure of the diamond in the shape of cracks. All these make the diamond appear whitish. Some diamonds become more valuable than others only when they have been verified to have higher grading of clarity. According to data, 20 percent of all diamonds mined annually have clarity enough to be taken in as perfect diamonds. The rest of the diamonds are sent to the various industries to be used as lasers, drills, etc.

You may have often wondered what a Carat is. A carat is a measure of the mass of a diamond as measured initially in the industry. A single carat is said to be equal to 200 milligrams. A carat is measured by a Point unit which is equal to one-hundredth of a carat. The price of a carat increases if the weight of the carat or diamond increases since the larger the diamond is the more valuable and beautiful it is.

Color is an important point in the decision of the value of a diamond for making Diamond Earrings. The most valuable and rarest of diamonds are colorless or totally white and are graded ā€˜Dā€™. The grade given after this means that a diamond has small amount of color. There are denoted by the grades E and F. The next grades given are G and H and means that the diamond is few traces of color. Those diamonds that are fully colored are denoted by I or J or K. Pink diamonds are the rarest.

To make Diamond Earrings, the diamond must first be cut properly. This involves cutting and shaping a diamond or gemstone intricately, carefully and evenly. These must be shaped and polished properly so that the final shape has all the features of a diamond. The best and the most popular technique of diamond cutting is made by calculating the ideal shape of the stone for returning and scattering entering light when seen from vertically. It is called the Round brilliant cut and by this rule the diamond gets 57 polished surfaces.
